The man behind Deadlight Designs, Rob Jupp
Being a working and gigging musician from an early age, I soon learnt how important it was to have a well maintained and balanced instrument. At the age of 17, I started to repair and customise guitars.
Growing up I spent alot of time at my grandparents home in Banstead. My Grandfather was also a musician and a member of an orchestra. He had an array of instruments displayed in his home, which furthered my fascination and interest for the stringed instrument. It was my Uncle who had built an electric and bass guitar that sparked my passion for guitars and their construction. He later passed those guitars onto me.
My first commissioned job at the age of 19, was to re-finish a classic Epiphone 335, in a vintage sunburst with hand painted portraits of The Beatles. This was displayed proudly in my local music shop and later sold at auction.
Deadlight Designs was established in 2000, where I was working from my family home. Business grew and inevitably I had to relocate to accommodate the expansion.
Deadlight Designs has been trading from it's current workshop since 2013 and continues to repair, restore and build high quality instruments.
